Everything you need to practise with the platform, in short.
Getting started
Pick a patient
Open Patients and choose someone to talk to. Each card shows a short case briefing; you can also build your own custom patient.
Talk in a session
Allow your microphone and speak as you would with a real client. A session lasts about 5 minutes and ends on its own.
Read your feedback
When the session ends you get scores and written feedback on eight skills, with examples from your own words.
How scoring works
Feedback follows the Facilitative Interpersonal Skills scale (FIS-8): eight skills that research links to good therapy outcomes.
The eight skills
- Hope & Positive Expectations
- Conveys realistic hope that things can get better.
- Persuasiveness
- Offers a new way of seeing the problem that the patient can accept.
- Verbal Fluency
- Speaks clearly and coherently, without hesitation getting in the way.
- Emotional Expression
- Shows feeling in a way that fits the moment.
- Warmth, Acceptance & Understanding
- Comes across as kind, accepting and willing to understand.
- Empathy
- Captures what the patient feels and says it back accurately.
- Alliance Bond Capacity
- Builds a sense of working together.
- Alliance Rupture & Repair
- Notices tension or disagreement and repairs it openly.
The 1 to 5 scale
Each skill gets a score from 1 to 5. A 3 is the level of a trained clinician; 4 and 5 are increasingly skilled. A 1 or 2 is common early in training.
Who gives the scores
An AI model reads the transcript of your session and rates each skill, with a short reason and quotes. It works from what was said.
Delivery skills
Skills that depend on how you sound, such as verbal fluency and emotional expression, are hard to judge from text. They may be marked text-limited; read those scores with care.
Scores are training feedback to help you practise. They are not a clinical assessment or a qualification.
Session modes
You can change the mode in Settings, under Training sessions.
Own engine
A real-time call with our own experimental patient engine. Works like the live conversation.
Needs: microphone. Camera optional.
Turn by turn
Record a reply, check the transcript, then send it; the patient answers with a short video clip. The most reliable choice on a slow connection.
Needs: microphone. Camera optional.
Privacy in short
We store your account, your session transcripts and your feedback so you can review your progress. Your camera video is never recorded or uploaded. You can download or delete your data at any time in Settings.

My microphone is not working.
Check that the browser is allowed to use the microphone (the icon in the address bar), that the right input is selected in your system settings, and that it is not muted. You can test it in Settings, under Training sessions. Chrome and Edge work best.
The avatar does not connect.
Reload the page and try again. Corporate networks and VPNs sometimes block live video; another network often helps. If it keeps failing, switch to turn by turn in Settings.
How long does a session last?
About 5 minutes. A timer shows the time left, and the session ends on its own, but you can end it earlier.
Can I redo a session?
Yes. Start a new session with the same patient whenever you like. Each session is scored on its own and stays in your history.
Where do I see my progress?
History lists all your sessions with their feedback. Analytics shows how each skill develops over time.
How do I change the language?
Use the EN / 中文 switch at the top of the page, or Settings, under Training sessions. The language you speak in a session is a separate setting in the same place.
How do I delete my data?
In Settings, under Privacy and data, you can download your data or delete your account with everything in it.
Is my video recorded?
No. If the camera is on, facial cues are computed on your device. Only short labels (for example “concerned”) are saved with the transcript; the video itself never leaves your device.
What is a custom patient?
A patient you create yourself: you describe their situation, write what they say first and pick an avatar. Only you see it in your patient list.
Who sees my sessions?
You do. Platform administrators can also see them, only for support and quality assurance.
